Carrizo Gorge Overlook Trail
(aka Table Top Mtn. Trail)
From San Diego take Interstate 8 east to the Jacumba Exit (Exit 73). Go south on Carrizo Gorge Road to Old Hwy 80 then east approximately 1.5 miles. Watch for a dirt road heading north toward an underpass to I-8. at appox. N32 37.713 W116 07.808 Continue north under I-8 until you see tower for microwave and radio equipment then follow the trail leading toward the tower. A short distance before reaching the tower turn left and head west down a steep grade then continue on that trail a few miles until you reach a right turn heading north. Follow that trail to the end which overlooks Carrizo Gorge. Approx. N32 40.785 W116 11.712.
Off in the distance you can see the railroad and a few of the tunnels and trestles.
